StubHub Consumer Dispute Statistics

The American Arbitration Association maintains dispute resolution data for all U.S. consumer companies, including StubHub. The link for their annual report is https://www.adr.org/industries/consumer/ .  I have also included it below along with the information sheet describing all of the fields.  Filter out all companies other than StubHub in order to compute various statistics.  You are left with all of the consumer arbitrations filed against StubHub in the last five years that have been closed as of October 2025 (it does not include cases that are still pending, and it does not include the case I won in December with the $35,000 arbitrator's award).  Here are the summary statistics for closed cases from 10/2020 - 10/2025:

  • 176 total arbitration cases brought against StubHub.  Arbitrators were appointed in 23 of the 176 cases.
  • After accounting for 8 "administrative" and 22 "withdrawn" from the 176 total cases, 146 cases moved forward in a significant way after being filed.
  • Of the 146 cases, 136 cases were either settled or dismissed (we have no idea what the terms were). This is 93% of the total cases.
  • Of the 146 cases, 10 cases were resolved by an arbitrator with a final award.  This is 7% of the total cases.
  • Of the 10 cases that were resolved by the arbitrator, the consumer won 3 (30%) and StubHub won 7 (70%).
  • Consumers were represented by counsel in 3 of the 10 cases that went to a final arbitration hearing.  The consumer prevailed in 1 of those 3 cases (33%).  In the 7 cases that went to a final arbitration hearing where the consumer represented him/herself, the consumer prevailed in 2 of those 7 cases (29%).
